They include devices such as cell phones, the Internet, wireless networks, computers, radio, television, satellites, base stations etc. These resources are used to create, store, communicate, transmit and manage information. ICTs make message delivery faster, more convenient, easy to access, understand and interpret.

ICT is now used in all fields and has a wide coverage. It is now common to hear words like e-learning, e-commerce, e-banking etc. Globally, in the education sector, it is expected that in the near future, textbooks may to a high extent be phased out in schools to be replaced with soft copies accessible globally. So being ICT compliant is a necessary tool for any meaningful learning in this dispensation. It is therefore incumbent on education curriculum developers to increasingly adopt and place ICT as a hub around which other disciplines revolve – a platform on which modern learning takes place. This is a major paradigm shift already underway globally that has been accelerated by COVID 19.

In Uganda, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and National Guidance (MoICT & NG) leads the ICT sector, providing the required policy framework, in collaboration with the two regulatory bodies: Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U). At the service provision level are the Departments and Agencies, Local Governments (LGs), Academia and the Private Sector. The ICT sector-working group (SWG) plays a coordination and advisory role in planning and implementation of sector policies and priorities.

The link between Christian ministry and technology is not immediately obvious and there seem to be no verses that speak directly about ICT. There are a few that describe people using various technologies, such as descendants of Cain doing metal working, and the builders of the Tower of Babel creating bricks and pitch, but these cannot give us any principles about ICT. There is no doubt however that ICT has become a major medium of communicating the gospel. Its role in church life has been heightened this year as a result of COVID 19 and lockdown. Church meetings online, church management software, church apps, online giving are all examples of ICT technologies churches are using.

Jesus told us to go out and make disciples of all nations – to spread the Word to people wherever they are. ICTs are tools to get the gospel message to people where they are and these days, people spend an increasing amount of time on their laptops, tablets and smart phones. ICT will play a major role in proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom to the whole world.

DANIEL 12:4 I CORINTHIANS 9:22,23 MATTHEW 24:14 MARK 13:10 ROMANS 10:14,15

15But I am the Lord your God,

Who divided the sea whose waves roared—

The Lord of hosts is His name.

16And I have put My words in your mouth; [Emphasis Added]

I have covered you with the shadow of My hand,

That I may plant the heavens,

Lay the foundations of the earth, [Emphasis Added]

And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’”

Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,

“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.

See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,

to pluck up and to break down,

to destroy and to overthrow,

to build and to plant.”

And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, [Emphasis Added] O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live….

So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, [Emphasis Added] and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone…

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, [Emphasis Added] Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on

these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, [Emphasis Added] and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he

came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, [Emphasis Added] “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. [Emphasis Added]

And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, [Emphasis Added] whoever says to this mountain, [Emphasis Added] Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says [Emphasis Added] will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, [Emphasis Added] believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

GUIDING TEXT FOR THE FASTING SEASON

And princes will rule with justice.

2A man will be as a hiding place from the wind,

And a cover from the tempest,

As rivers of water in a dry place,

As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

3The eyes of those who see will not be dim,

And the ears of those who hear will listen.

4Also the heart of the rash will understand knowledge,

And the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.

5The foolish person will no longer be called generous,

Nor the miser said to be bountiful;

6For the foolish person will speak foolishness,

And his heart will work iniquity:

To practice ungodliness,

To utter error against the Lord,

To keep the hungry unsatisfied,

And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

7</sup>Also the schemes of the schemer are evil;

He devises wicked plans

To destroy the poor with lying words,

Even when the needy speaks justice.

8But a generous man devises generous things,

And by generosity he shall stand.

But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to

and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to

all nations, and then the end will come.

And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations.

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?
