WEDNESDAY, 7th OCTOBER 2020: DEDICATING THE DECADE 2020 – 2029

PRAYER GUIDE

ISAIAH 51:15-16 (NKJV)

15But I am the Lord your God,

Who divided the sea whose waves roared—

The Lord of hosts is His name.

16And I have put My words in your mouth; [Emphasis Added]

I have covered you with the shadow of My hand,

That I may plant the heavens,

Lay the foundations of the earth, [Emphasis Added]

And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’”

JEREMIAH 1:9,10 (ESV)

Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,

“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.

See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,

to pluck up and to break down,

to destroy and to overthrow,

to build and to plant.”

EZEKIEL 37: 3-5, 7, 9, 10

And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, [Emphasis Added] O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live….

So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, [Emphasis Added] and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone…

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, [Emphasis Added] Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on

these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, [Emphasis Added] and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

MARK 11:13-14

And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he

came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, [Emphasis Added] “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. [Emphasis Added]

MARK 11:22-24

And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, [Emphasis Added] whoever says to this mountain, [Emphasis Added] Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says [Emphasis Added] will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, [Emphasis Added] believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

GUIDING TEXT FOR THE FASTING SEASON

ISAIAH 32:1-8

1Behold, a king will reign in righteousness,

And princes will rule with justice.

2A man will be as a hiding place from the wind,

And a cover from the tempest,

As rivers of water in a dry place,

As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

3The eyes of those who see will not be dim,

And the ears of those who hear will listen.

4Also the heart of the rash will understand knowledge,

And the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.

5The foolish person will no longer be called generous,

Nor the miser said to be bountiful;

6For the foolish person will speak foolishness,

And his heart will work iniquity:

To practice ungodliness,

To utter error against the Lord,

To keep the hungry unsatisfied,

And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

7</sup>Also the schemes of the schemer are evil;

He devises wicked plans

To destroy the poor with lying words,

Even when the needy speaks justice.

8But a generous man devises generous things,

And by generosity he shall stand.

DEDICATING THE DECADE 2020 – 2029

2020 in the Gregorian calendar began on 1st January 2020. It coincides with the Hebrew year 5780 which began on the Feast of Trumpets, 30th September 2019. The beginning of both years also marked the beginning of a new decade. The theme for the Hebrew decade is “peh” which also means the mouth. Peh is the 17th letter of the Hebrew alphabet and symbolizes victory. The word carries the value of 80 and according to the sages this number represents strength. The role of the mouth will be key in the decade that we have commenced. Much victory (or defeat) will be actually generated from what comes out of our mouths.

Number 20 in Bible is related to the cycles of completeness. It is associated with the completion of a period of trial, a period of waiting that if it is successfully completed receives a generous reward or a just punishment to oppressors. Jacob served for 20 years in his Uncle Laban’s house and had to return to the land of his ancestors once they had elapsed. Solomon took a total of 20 years to complete building the temple and his palace. The nation of Israel suffered bondage under the rule of Jabin for 20 years until God released them through Deborah and Barak.

Of all God’s creation, only man can create words and speak just as God does. The Scriptures teach us that the physical world was created by the word of God.

Hebrews 11:3

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

Genesis 1:3 And God said…

Genesis 1:6 And God said…

Genesis 1:9 And God said…

Genesis 1:11 And God said…

Genesis 1:14 And God said…

Genesis 1:20 And God said…

Genesis 1:22 And God blessed them, saying…

Genesis 1:24 And God said…

Genesis 1:26 And God said…

Genesis 1: 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them…

Genesis 1:29 And God said…

We must guard our mouths in this new season. Deliverance, breakthrough, healing, divine intervention, and open heavens are in our mouths. We must be careful what we speak because words vocalized carry creative powers. On the Island of Patmos Apostle John saw Jesus with a voice like the sound of many waters and a sharp two-edged sword coming out of His mouth (Revelation 1:15,16). In this decade God’s words and God’s voice must be heard loudly in all realms including the unseen physical and spiritual realms, coming through our mouths.

SCRIPTURES FOR PRAYER AND PROCLAMATION

PSALM 81:10:

I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

PSALM 141:3

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!

Isaiah 55:10-13

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven

and do not return there but water the earth,

making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;

it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,

and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

“For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace;

the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing,

and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress; instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle;

and it shall make a name for the Lord, an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”

EXODUS 4:10 – 12

But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.”

JEREMIAH 1:9,10

Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,

“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth [Emphasis Added].

See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,

to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”

JAMES 1:19

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

JAMES 3:1-12

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things.

How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water

PROVERBS 11:11

By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.

PROVERBS 18:20,21

From the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach is satisfied; he is satisfied by the yield of his lips.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

WORSHIP GOD WHOSE VOICE THUNDERS OVER CREATION

PSALM 29

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters.

The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.

He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.

The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.

The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare,

and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever.

May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!

THANK GOD FOR:
